...i first came across this quote @ the museum of natural history in manhattan. i heard it again on our night safari in singapore (our exuberant/eccentric tour guide ended the tour with it). always liked the message, even though i think that experience is of equal or greater importance when trying to understand something. the environment, for example, is experienced by fewer and fewer people today (as we are further isolated from it). at the same time, there are aspects of the natural world that cannot be experienced directly (or self-taught), so we must be educated about them if we are to recognize their true value//
